The Basics…

When it comes to music, I essentially love everything except for Rap/R&B and Country…even though some good songs exist in those genres as well.

My favorite bands are of the harder variety, but with actual musicians who can play instruments and sing. Progressive metal incorporates a lot of complexity and some of my favorites even use full orchestras right along with the guitars and keyboards.
Favorite bands include: Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, Savatage, Dream Theater, Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, Kamelot, and Raintime just to name a few. Of course, off genre but a necessity in any music collection are They Might Be Giants and Cowboy Mouth.

Now, please don’t let the word “metal” scare you to death. This is “good guy” metal, not “let’s sacrifice a chicken” metal.

Television-wise, my favorite shows include:
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, (So pretty much everything Joss Whedon) Babylon 5, Smallville, Friends, Two and a Half Men, Big Bang Theory, and random documentaries on random topics.  I’m a sucker for knowledge. 🙂

Movies?  This list is ever evolving.  This month, I’d say Star Wars Episode 4, Braveheart, The Princess Bride, Aliens, and Noises Off are my favorites.  Sometimes it seems that every new movie I watch and enjoy becomes a new “favorite”.  Movies I guess fall into either “favorite” or “classic” category.  I’ll get into this eventually in a post.  For now, just deal with the list I provided. 🙂
