Coakley’s First Democrat Opponent Announces

Brad Craver

The day following Vince Coakley’s announcement as a Republican candidate for US Congress from District 12, he has a challenger.  Brad Craver is likely the first of many who will seek the Democratic nomination for this heavily Democrat district.  His stated “moderation” would stand in stark contrast to the former occupant of the seat, Mel Watt.  Will Democrats in the district embrace such a candidate? The primary will be held on May 6, 2014.

The following is the campaign’s release:

Brad Craver is pleased to announce that he is running as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 12th District of North Carolina. Brad is poised to win this election based on his fiscally responsible views.

The poor and middle class have been left behind by policies intended to raise them up. It is time for both parties to acknowledge that their actions and policies are not working for most Americans. Government programs continue to grow, but the people are not getting the results promised. Brad hopes to restore a commitment to classical liberalism in the Democratic Party; principles that worked for our country’s economy in the past can work now, too.

Brad has lived most of his life in North Carolina. He attended Georgia Tech where he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. Brad is pursuing this position because of his strong interest in federal issues, specifically economic policies, and his desire to give the voters an alternative. Brad believes that to change the government, you have to put a different kind of person in government.

Brad has spent his career in the private sector, helping businesses improve and succeed. As a management consultant he identifies and solves complex problems. He is skilled at using data and logic – rather than conjecture and rhetoric – to identify the core issues. This approach enables his clients to implement solutions that are simple and helpful for everyone.

Brad appeals to the moderate Democrats and Unaffiliated voters, who are also eligible to vote in the Democratic Primary. Because voter turnout is typically low in a non-presidential cycle, these voters have a huge opportunity to make their vote count. And now they have a candidate they can be excited about electing. By making a commitment to vote for Brad, you can truly improve the direction of the nation and economy.

Brad’s campaign offers objective solutions that work for the good of all of the people, all of the time. For more information go to www.bradcraver.com

  • A true blue dog (traditional) Democrat? I thought they were extinct.

  • Coakley should have run as a Democrat. He would have made the run off and might have pulled the upset.

  • Brad sounds way too logical to get involved in politics. Doesn’t seem like the type of candidate the Democrat party machine would get behind.
