FreedomWorks Endorses Greg Brannon in Senate Primary
On Tuesday, February 4, Matt Kibbe, the President and CEO of FreedomWorks, joined a crowd of supporters in Raleigh to announce the SuperPac’s endorsement of Dr. Greg Brannon for United States Senate.
According to Kibbe, “Greg Brannon is a solutions-oriented leader with a stellar understanding of the constitutional role of government. He knows that North Carolinians – not some faceless bureaucrats in Washington – know what’s best for themselves and their families. Greg Brannon will be critical part of the Republican Senate takeover in 2014, and a welcome member of the Freedom Caucus within the new majority.”
In response, Brannon commented, “It’s an honor to receive the support of such an incredible organization. FreedomWorks has solid record of working to elect conservatives and they’ve been on the front lines in the fight for smaller government. I’m grateful for their endorsement and I look forward to fighting alongside these great champions of freedom.”
The endorsement hasn’t been without controversy. Supporters of other candidates in the GOP Primary are crying foul, suggesting it is too early to endorse, or that outside organizations shouldn’t have a voice in North Carolina politics. To this blogger, it all sounds like sour grapes.
The following video from the event contains the statements by both Kibbe and Brannon.
Nice purchase FreedomWorks. I’m sure you’ll get your money’s worth. For a few million dollars you get to ensure a Kay Hagan victory in November.
Money better spent on a spam filter
The spam is continuing to be out of hand. I thought I found a fix, but obviously it’s back with a vengeance. Our filter blocks thousands of spam messages a day, but more and more keep finding their way live. I do apologize. If anyone knows of a better way to block spam in a WordPress site, I would love to learn.
Due to Brannon being found guilty of fraud, will Rand Paul withdraw his endorsement.
Was it hagan or tillis that funded the lawsuit?
Skyler I think it was the people who felt that Brannon cheated them out of money, that funded the lawsuit. Brannon refused to defend himself, so the jury had no choice but to award damages to the plaintiff.
To be fair to Brannon, he was found liable in a civil trial, not “guilty” of fraud. And it’s not correct to state he refused to defend himself, he presented a defense, but chose not to take the stand to testify. Words matter.
you are right but in this matter guilty and liable have exactly the same result. Brannon will have to write a big check either as a bond that will be posted with his appeal or as a payment to the plaintiffs to liquidate the judgement that they have against him. And he was afraid to defend himself of these charges and let his lawyers speak for him. Not really a profile in courage, don’t ya think. How long will it be ’till Sen. Paul pulls his endorsement?
Doesn’t matter. He’s done. I’ll be surprised if his campaign even makes it to the primaries. Not intended to be disrespectful, it is what it is.
