With less than a week to go before the midterm election, recent polls like this one from The Hill indicate that Mick Mulvaney leads incumbant Democrat John Spratt by 10 points.

The stage is set for the first new SC-5 Congressional representation since 1982.

From The Hill:

Rep. John Spratt (D-S.C.) trails Republican Mick Mulvaney by 10 points, 39 percent to 49 percent, with 10 percent of likely voters undecided, according to The Hill 2010 Midterm Election Poll.

Mulvaney is winning independents by 23 points and leads among male, female, middle-aged and older voters. The only group Spratt leads is younger voters, but he’s winning that unpredictable voting group by a mere two points.

Spratt’s favorability rating is 41 percent, with 47 percent rating him unfavorably. And 43 percent said Spratt’s 14 terms in Congress were a reason to vote against him.

The following pictures were taken Wednesday night, October 27, at the Magnolia Room at Laurel Creek as Mick Mulvaney welcomed former Massachusetts Governor and Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

  • Great news about this race. Spratt’s gotta go.

Too bad Mulvaney was unable to secure a speaker for his event who is opposed to socialized medicine.

  • I hear ya bud.
I have never been a fan of Mitt Romney and have written plenty on the subject. The guy is just wrong for the Party.

I can tell you though, we shouldn’t be too critical of prominent party members who are willing to host events and fundraisers for candidates that we support.

I worked for Mick in his last Senate race and can tell you he is no Massachusetts republican. As a candidate though, if you can get a big name draw, the publicity and the dollars can only help.

As I always say, I’ll take an 80% Republican’s support over nothing at all…especially in the waining days of the election.

I don’t support Mitt Romney, but I’m thankful for his support of Mick in this most important race.
