Rallies for Gun Rights and Media Bias
For weeks, the media has been saturated with stories portraying the battle between gun control advocates and supporters of 2nd amendment rights.
The whirlwind of fear being generated by possible future restrictions on firearms ownership has led to a market in firearm sales (particularly rifles) with prices reaching twice to three times or more of original retail value. Ammunition of common calibers is also becoming increasingly difficult to find.
Grassroots gun rights supporters are now stepping up their actions and there are several forthcoming events that I wanted to make sure people were aware of.
Thursday, January 31 – We the People NC are hosting a town hall forum featuring Congressman Richard Hudson (NC-8), a representative from Grassroots NC (unapologetic gun rights supporters), former NC State Rep. Glen Bradley, and constitutional expert Scott Cumbie. The event will run from 6:30-8:30 PM at the Rotary Hall, 211 West Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081. For more information, click HERE.
Wednesday, February 5 – Grassroots NC is hosting a pro second amendment rally outside the legislative building in Raleigh on the Halifax Mall at noon. Visit www.grnc.org for more information.
Friday, February 8 – To coincide with the national “Rally at Every State Capital for Our 2nd Amendment Rights” push, local activists Rona Herman and Eric Dailey are organizing a pro second amendment rally at the State Capital Building in Raleigh from 10:00am until 1:00pm. For more information on this event, click HERE. The event flyer can be found HERE.
When these events transpire, it will be interesting to see the coverage generated by “mainstream media”…if any.
As a case in point, earlier this month the Moccasin Creek Minutemen hosted a townhall meeting on gun rights in Zebulon, NC. Guests included the Sheriffs of Wake, Franklin, and Wayne Counties. The group expected about 60 people, and nearly 400 showed up.
WRAL in Raleigh covered the event, and I was flabbergasted when I watched the video.
Not only did the news team misspell the word “amendment”, a minor infraction given the state of our public schools, but at the end of the video the host actually asks the reporter, “Kevin, how was security in that room? I saw the three Sheriffs there, but how about the perimeter and outside? Was it a big security presence?”
Seriously?
So a group of supporters of our Constitutional rights gathers together and the concern is about how security was? As if a group of law abiding gun owners would present any type of security threat at all in the first place? I’m appalled.
I have seen plenty of coverage from news agencies over the years of abortion rights rights groups, illegal immigrants, rallies for gun control…but I’ve never seen the news anchor bother to ask whether these liberals had adequate security presence. Obviously only conservatives present clear and present danger.

Really want to freak out the media? Do what some guys did recently in Seattle…
Show up at a gun “buy back” event (where govco and organizations pay people to turn in their guns) and offer the attendees more for their firearm than the event organizer. It’s legal and you can often pick up some great guns at rock bottom prices!
Here’s the scoop on the Seattle event: http://tinyurl.com/avboufz
Love it! Let’s get Rodney Monroe on board for a Charlotte buy back!
