Saturday Night House Party

If you know me, you know I’m a huge Joss Whedon fan.  The brains behind television shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly, and even the recent summer blockbuster The Avengers, Whedon is a born storyteller with a comic wit that I find genius.

Four years ago, during the writers strike in Hollywood, Whedon wrote and directed a short film for Internet release entitled “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”.  The idea was to create something small and inexpensive, yet professionally done, in a way that would circumvent the issues that were being protested during the strike.  The show tells the story of Dr. Horrible (played by Neil Patrick Harris), an aspiring supervillain; Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion), his nemesis; and Penny (Felicia Day), their shared love interest.

With a sequel ready to hit, I wanted to get everyone introduced to the original.

Here are a couple of the songs from the show.  The full version is also available on YouTube and Netflix.  It’s only about 40 minutes and well worth the watch.
