Senseless Census Will Leave Us Centless
As if spending $2.5 million to run an ad during the Super Bowl encouraging folks to fill out their census forms wasn’t enough, this week over 120 million households are receiving a letter from the Census Department informing them that they will be receiving a letter from the Census Department.
Having not received a letter telling me to expect a letter about receiving a letter, I was thrown for a loop…uncertain how to continue my otherwise peaceful day.
According to the U.S. Postal Service website, pre-sorted, first-class mail costs 41.4 cents per letter, which means postage alone probably cost $49 million. Add to that the cost of printing and paper, and the Super Bowl ad is starting to look like a downright bargain.
