Two days ago, 25 plaintiffs, including Mike Ward, the former NC Superintendent of Public Instruction, filed a lawsuit in Wake County challenging North Carolina’s new “Opportunity Scholarship” program. The scholarships provide $4,200 to low income families and allow them the chance to attend a private school of their choice.  You can read the full story […]

Generation TEA

Dec 6, 2013   //   by Christian Hine   //   Carolinas, Christian Hine, National  //  42 Comments

The nature of politics is undergoing a radical transformation.  Our two party system is no longer meeting the needs of a growing number of activists.  Historically, the Republican Party was able to represent the interests of right of center conservatives.  With issues becoming more complex, and expectations of activists changing, this is no longer the […]

Ugly Politics? Welcome to Mecklenburg.

Dec 4, 2013   //   by Christian Hine   //   Char-Meck Beat, Christian Hine  //  18 Comments

It’s been an ugly two days on a couple of Mecklenburg County boards. On Monday, the new town of Huntersville board was sworn in and shortly thereafter returning mayor Jill Swain called for a vote on her committee recommendations…recommendations that altered tradition and left top vote getters off of important committees. House Guest Rick Short […]

**Editor’s note: This email was recently sent out to Tea Party activists across NC.  With the Common Core study committee set to meet in mid-December, now is the time to educate yourself on this issue.   Conservatives across NC oppose Common Core. A broad coalition of groups and individuals are working together to stop Common […]

Howdy folks. Apologies for the tardiness of getting this online, but I was basically in an illness coma most of last week. Nov 25, 2013   //   by Christian Hine   //   Carolinas, Christian Hine  //  3 Comments

Last Thursday, November 21, the Gaston Tea Party hosted the first of what is sure to be a series of debates across the Tarheel State featuring the GOP candidates for US Senate.  With a May, 2014 Primary looming, time is short to build a coalition of support that will be able to defeat incumbent Democrat […]

Free Me From the Political Drama

Nov 8, 2013   //   by Christian Hine   //   Christian Hine, National  //  21 Comments

A recent article in the Charlotte Observer’s Campaign Tracker indicated that the Tea Party was on a “suicide mission in NC” via it’s headline.  As the President of the Charlotte Tea Party, I naturally have an interest in reviewing such statements. Apparently “the tea party has named its top 2014 target in North Carolina: U.S. […]

New AFP Poll Points to Communications Problem with General Assembly

Nov 4, 2013   //   by Christian Hine   //   Carolinas, Christian Hine  //  7 Comments

PunditHouse  just received a press release from Americans for Prosperity that includes the results of a recent poll conducted with 1,000 likely North Carolina voters. The results are pretty telling and speak to a common thread of conversation among conservative activists.   That being: While North Carolinians support the actions of the General Assembly, they […]

That afternoon, I was proven correct when the Charlotte Business Journal released an article showcasing how Council supporters of the handout […]
